The International Charter responds to disasters all over the world as well as to disasters that occur within the United Kingdom, Crown Dependencies (Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man) and British Overseas Territories.
To date, the Charter has been activated for six UK disasters:

| 3rd February 2006 | Chemical Tanker Accident in the English Channel |
| 12th July 2003 | Volcanic Eruption on the Island of Montserrat |
